ROANOKE, VA- 1965 NOMAD
We received an email from a WONDERFUL Lady in Roanoke, VA. After Several phone calls, we developed a plan of action to help her get her 1965 Nomad back in shape from a small accident. She allowed us to stay in her AWESOME camper named “Goldie” and made meals for us. We became fast friends and are very happy to have met her! Fixing the damaged shell and aluminum J Channel without removing all of the skin was a challenge for Chris. However, in the end, the results were amazing! “Goldie” is now ready for primer and paint! We are so pleased to have gotten “Goldie” back in shape to be towed wherever they may roam.
GLOUCESTER, VA- 2013 KOALA SUPER LITE
A friend of Chris’s Dads hired us to repair a “small” section of his RV floor that had water damage and install LVP flooring (with the exception of the slide) so that he and his wife could sell it. HOWEVER, for those of us that are in the business, it was NOT that easy. After inspecting the floor further, there were more “soft spots” than he had noticed, UGH! After wind drying and treating the interior of the RV for mold, we decided to remove the rotted subfloor by the door and replace with aluminum, foam and underlayment, BUT decided to try injecting Epoxy to the other areas that were soft instead of replacing the subfloor. Chris had read lots of information on this process, but had not tried it yet. I found the Marine Epoxy and syringes at West Marine for under $100.00 and THANKFULLY it worked! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!
We installed LVP Flooring and new trim everywhere (with the exception of the slide). They can now get the maximum resale value for their RV!
GREY’S POINT CAMPGROUND- 2013 SIERRA FORREST RIVER
We recently had the pleasure to seal a leaky window and repair the wall caused by the leak. The view from the camper of the Rappahannock River is amazingly beautiful and peaceful. Any RV owner would be lucky to call this space their second home.
The first task was to find the leak. The window above the wall had been resealed pretty recently, and seemed to still have silicone around it. To make sure, I used the hose to spray the window with water while Chris was inside watching for water. Sure enough, water was leaking in from the bottom of the window. Chris used RV Sealant to reseal the window. When we returned the next day, we sprayed the window with water again to make sure the problem was solved. THANKFULLY, it worked… NO MORE LEAKY WINDOW. We could now repair the interior wall.
Chris carefully cut a section of the wall to reveal the damage the water had caused. After removing all of the rotted wood and wet foam, we treated it for mold and allowed the area to wind dry. To replace the piece of wall removed, Chris cut foam insulation and paneling to size, glued it together and installed in the section that had been removed. To get a smoother look, he filled the gaps with water putty and sanded. I applied 2 coats of Benjamin Moore paint (the Owner had thankfully kept the paint used when she had painted the walls) to the area and VOILA, the repair was finished!
BETHPAGE CAMP-RESORT– 2015 COLUMBUS PALOMINO
We received a call from a FABULOUS Lady who needed us to repair a few “soft spots” and install flooring in her fifth wheel. Chris was REALLY excited because he would get to use his favorite product on the planet, and I was a REALLY nervous because she was also an employee of the campground. However, after meeting her and her dog, my nerves were calmed and I was ready to jump in. The first step was to remove the RV couch she no longer wanted. We then removed the kitchen island. That was a bit tricky, but necessary for both the floor to be repaired and the flooring to go underneath. We then ripped out ALL of the carpet; two slides in the Living Area, and the Master Bedroom (including inside of the closet and the slide).
The Owner had been expecting a new refrigerator, and it FINALLY had arrived! That evening, we helped George, Owner of Campfires & Friends Mobile RV Service, remove her broken RV refrigerator. Afterwards, it was time to prep the floor for the Epoxy injection.
The Epoxy took longer this time to dry than it had the first time, but the results were AMAZING and the “soft spots” were once again “solid spots”! We were now ready to install the LVP flooring. We began in the main area of the fifth wheel, then moved to the Master Bedroom and Bathroom. When the rooms were completed, we had the tricky task of installing the flooring on the 2 large slides. This is difficult because we have to make sure the slide doesn’t scratch the new flooring when moved to the “in” or “out” position, and that the gap between the main floor and the slide is covered. There are several ways to accomplish this. We chose to… we would tell you, but some things have to be kept between Just Us 2. The final look was AMAZING and I really am confident we impressed the Owner that I was so nervous to work with!
New Point RV Resort- 2008 Fourwinds Travel Trailer
After being hired by Mia, the owner of this spacious 38 ft. travel trailer, Chris and I were excited to begin the biggest project to date that was for a client, and not JU2.
The three-and-a-half-week renovation would include:
- Remove the wall and door that separated the main living space from the front bunk room along with the bunks and small dinette that were in the area. We also had to demo the built-in entertainment center and move all electric/cable that it housed and prep the area for flooring and new furniture.
- Remove the original dinette and couch from the slide as well as the carpet to prep the area for flooring and new furniture.
- Install new countertop, sink, faucet and backsplash in the kitchen.
- Remove original dresser and carpet in bedroom and install new flooring and dresser.
To finish the new design of the interior we would remove all window treatments for Mia (so she could upholster from home) to be re-installed later, remove wallpaper border and install LVP Flooring and trim throughout.
She also added a few exterior projects including some cable extension wire, upgrade to 50 AMP, install new outdoor Marine speakers, re-screen the slider with heavy duty screening, build steps to both entrances of the trailer as well as to the front of the deck, plumbing and other preventative maintenance.
Next, it was time for the demo. While Chris removed the wall and entertainment center, I began removing the bunks and furniture in the front bedroom. We then removed the dinette and couch from the slide and the dresser in the Master bedroom.
I LOVE the open space that we created!
The reno had been going SO well, until we inspected the areas where we had removed the furniture. So often, RV’s have damage that cannot be seen until it’s too late, and that was the case here as well. The front bedroom wall, as well as both outer corners of the slide floor had water damage that HAD to be fixed before moving forward. Thankfully, Chris has a technique to fix damaged floors and walls that would not put us behind schedule too much.
FINALLY, it was time to begin my favorite part of any reno… making it beautiful again. However, the demo and unforeseen damage had caused another issue. The walls needed to be painted. This was not in our budget; however, Chris and I had discussed giving a few surprises to the Lane’s at the start of the reno and had a few ideas (and paint was a must) so I painted the entire living area, slide and kitchen as a gift from JU2 (surprise #1). There are a few other surprises we had in store as well, but those will come later. After the paint was dry, we installed the new LVP flooring and trim. Next, Chris removed the existing kitchen countertop, added the Formica that Mia had chosen and returned it with a new sink and faucet.
While I added the backsplash and painted the fridge with chalk paint (surprise #2), Chris was working on the new “floating” entertainment stand that he had modified to house the electric and cable.
After hanging the new slider blind and assembling and placing the furniture, it was almost time for the big reveal.
…And she LOVED it! The dining table Mia had refinished fit perfectly, and the decor finally came together as we had envisioned. Finally, we added an extra outlet, installed roller skylight covers, and mounted the new TV with a swivel wall mount (surprise #3). This reno taught us so much, and we can’t wait to begin our next project!
